My Grandma Lucci is turning 100 years old this week. My parents and friends had a celebration with her a few days ago. One hundred years is a really, really long time. I only wish her memory had lasted longer...it's so hard to see her confused. Our medical skills have progressed to the point we can keep a person alive for many years, but we still need to learn how to keep their minds sharp too. However, I'm so thankful that I was able to get to know my grandmother as an adult and that we had so many good years together.

"I have worked with investors for 60 years and I have yet to see anyone — not even when capital gains rates were 39.9 percent in 1976-77 — shy away from a sensible investment because of the tax rate on the potential gain. People invest to make money, and potential taxes have never scared them off."

Congratulations to Summer & Brett on the birth of their daughter, Eliza! I'm so happy for them and can't wait to meet Eliza. I'm also excited to see what an awesome big sister Violet will become. Sisters are the best!

A blog with great parenting insight from a truly amazing foster mom. I hope someday when I foster that I can be half as insightful and strong.
My parents celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary yesterday. I'm so thankful that they love each other and have chosen to stay together through the good and bad. They are truly a fantastic example of the way marriage should be. I've got absolutely wonderful parents. I'm so very lucky!
