"Don't look back, you're not going that way."
- from Ang's wall on Facebook
Sundays are for laying around the house with your loved ones. Or in some cases, being laid on. Stewie is such a weird dog in that he likes to cuddle. But I love it!
I'm embarrassed how much I like this song and this band. Obviously, I'm not the only one.
This is where I'm spending my Wednesday night. In a plain old boring hotel room. It's what I do most nights each week. Just a reminder that a travel job really isn't glamorous. AT ALL.
Before you get into a cab without a pocketful of cash, ask the cab driver if he/she can take credit cards. Yesterday I forgot to ask so when we arrived at my hotel and I pulled out my credit card to pay, the cab driver told me his machine was broken. I had to go down the block to get cash (and pay a ridiculous fee since the bank wasn't mine). Then when I made it back to the cab, the driver didn't even have change. Total cab driver fail.
I got a window seat as I was flying out of Phoenix this morning. The sun was just coming up and the sky was absolutely clear. The light and shadows across the landscape was breath-taking. I think Arizona is one of the most beautiful places in the world. The desert is magical to me.
Today I'm flying to Albany, NY for the last of 4 weeks there. I played a small part in this project, which is why I was only spending a short amount of time there. It was a great opportunity to work with some really good people.
Today is also my mother's birthday! Happy birthday, Mom. I'm glad Dad is taking you to Napa this week. Enjoy it!
It was a surprise to get back to Arizona a couple weekends ago and feel the cool weather. It seems that fall has come early in Phoenix this year. Typically it doesn't get cool enough to sleep with the windows open until Halloween, but we enjoyed the cool nights the past two weekends. It's hard for me to believe that fall has arrived and that summer has passed. It went so fast! Which really means that I was just really busy.
Traveling every week for work definitely has a strange effect on how I perceive time. In August, my 9 month long project in Nashville ended, which was a relief. I even got to spend quite a few weeks at home. But as of the end of September, I've been back on the road. Though with the arrival of fall, I keep looking back to wonder where summer went.
Chris and I had a lovely and very busy summer. Here's a snapshot of the big events.
June - Week of Vacation in Orlando
We vacationed with our friends, Steve, Ang, their son, Gage, and two of his friends - Alex & Payton. It was tons of fun! A highlight for me was swimming with manatees.
July - Wes visit & Flagstaff + Grand Canyon
Chris' 17 year old nephew, Wes, came to visit us in Phoenix. We spent a weekend in Flagstaff and The Grand Canyon. It was Chris and Wes' first time seeing the canyon. Wes also really enjoyed Slide Rock in Sedona.
August - Long weekend at Lake Tahoe
To escape the heat in Phoenix, Chris scheduled a weekend at Lake Tahoe. It was really beautiful and relaxing. My favorite parts were the convertible we rented and the sunset boat ride!
September - Mike's Birthday in Georgia
Over Labor Day weekend, we went to northern Georgia to visit Chris' brother and celebrate his 40th birthday. It was so great spending time with family, especially our 5 year old niece.
